Our Assessments
What is a learning disability?
A learning disability is a neurologically based difference that affects how a person processes information. It can impact reading, writing, mathematics, or other academic skills despite average or above-average intelligence.
How do I know if my child has a learning disability?
Signs may include persistent difficulty learning to read, poor spelling, trouble with written expression, difficulty understanding math concepts, slow progress despite extra help, or frustration with schoolwork. A comprehensive evaluation can determine the underlying cause of these challenges.
Does a learning disability mean my child isn't smart?
Not at all. Many children with learning disabilities have average or above-average intelligence. They simply learn differently and often benefit from specialized instruction and accommodations.
What learning disabilities do you evaluate?
Evaluations may identify Specific Learning Disorders involving reading (including dyslexia), written expression (including dysgraphia), mathematics (including dyscalculia), or other learning-related difficulties.
Will this evaluation help my child qualify for school services?
A comprehensive evaluation provides detailed information about your child's strengths and needs. Schools review multiple sources of information when determining eligibility for services, and private evaluations often play an important role in that process.
How long will it take to receive results?
Families generally receive a comprehensive written report within approximately two to three weeks after testing has been completed.
What if the evaluation shows my child does not have a learning disability?
Even when a learning disability is not identified, the evaluation can provide valuable insight into your child's learning profile, strengths, and challenges. Recommendations are individualized to help support success regardless of the outcome.
